I have filed I-485 in febuary:

Had a Question:
How long it takes to get EAD card (work permit) after filling I-485.

They say upto 12 weeks but you should be able to get by 8 weeks.

It depends on the INS itself. Usually, if you can prove them that you are eligible for the EAD then they will send it to you right away. In most cases I have seen that the people who dosent get it on time needs to send more documents. After 9-11, they have become more serious about all this stuff. They asked me for more documents too(that was after two weeks I applied). When I sent the documents, it took two more weeks. Interesting thing- when I call the toll No. to find the status of my application it says, its still in process and will take atmost 120 days.
If you dont get anything from them, then you should try and contact them. Goodluck.
