as far as i know, its coz of family reason. he finished MS in biological science/life science and joined phd....but if he has to quit school what are the options to be in status. its in us.

Well dropped from PhD, probably didn't pass PQ exam, kinda sucks. The only way i can think of is, get F1 from KAPLAN or equivalent and try to get the job to file for H1
