The Maoists and the government must take the responsibility for the incident, Singh claimed at a press conference organised by himself in Birgunj today.

Singh said that the disaster took place because the Maoist cadres drove away an Indian technical team that had come to inspect the Koshi Barrage without letting it work on time.

Also, he claimed that the government did not take any action regardless of the warnings issued by the Indian embassy in Nepal about the threat of inundation.

Singh, who is listed among the “most wanted criminals” by the Nepal police, clarified that he is a contractor by profession and that he has never lifted arms in his entire life. He said, “All the charges made against me are false.”

At the press meet, Singh said that Maoist lawmaker Prabhu Shah still runs an underground outfit named “Terai Aadhi”.
